Yttrium oxide is thermodynamically the most stable oxide and stable against many reactive melts like titanium. Appart from the application within the refractory area yttrium oxide is used as a sinter aid and for stabilizing of zirconium dioxide, mainly in a quality >99,9% Y2O3.
